Want to put your creativity, intelligence and curiosity to use? Want to work for social justice and get paid? Do you identify as lesbian/bisexual/gay/trans/queer/questioning, or a straight ally? Then apply to join the outLoud Radio Podcast team!
The outLoud Podcast discusses issues relevant to the lives of LGBTQQ youth. Two kinds of positions are available:
- Producers work together 6-8 hours per week in San Francisco, June 11–September 13, immersing themselves in audio production and radio journalism, discussing LGBTQQ issues relevant to their lives. You can hear examples of producers' work at www.outloudradio.org. Producers receive a stipend for successfully completing the program. In addition, producers have several opportunities over the summer to earn stipends by leveling up within the program and having their work released on the outLoud podcast.
- Leaders-in-Training (LITs) are responsible for training the producers and for overseeing the podcast production process. They work in San Francisco 10 hours per week, June 4–September 13, and are paid $11/hour. In production sessions (7 hours per week), they set up and close down the workspace, and facilitate discussions, group activities and workflows. LITs provide the producers with the skills and support they need to plan, produce, and edit each podcast episode – that includes discussing ideas for content, scheduling and collecting interviews, editing audio and producing finished pieces. They must also collaborate with each other and the rest of the team to foster an open environment for growth and discussion around LGBT issues. LITs get 3 hours of coaching and training from Adult Support Staff each week.
To apply, you must first attend an information session in San Francisco on May 17 or May 21, 2012. Apply here.
